October First Media merges Root Word Productions with Local Legends Entertainment, companies owned, respectively, by Paul Root and Michael Brownyard. The new venture is structured to develop high-quality content and to package projects for the entertainment industry. Through relationships with dynamic individuals and companies that deal in various media and genres, October First Media has the agility, ability, and repository of assets to self-produce, co-produce, and sell fully developed scripts and projects directly to major production studios and streaming platforms.

MICHAEL BROWNYARD IS A 21ST CENTURY RENAISSANCE MAN. HE STUDIED BUSINESS AT JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY IN CLEVELAND, OHIO, WHERE HE BEGAN HIS PURSUIT OF A CAREER IN MUSIC & FILM IN EARNEST. HE FIRST COLLABORATED WITH PAUL ROOT ON THE FEATURE FILM KING'S FAITH. SHORTLY AFTER, MIKE LANDED A ROLE IN THE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL FILM, UNDERDOGS, FEATURING HALL OF FAME QUARTERBACK JOE NAMATH. IN ADDITION TO BEING A TALENTED ACTOR, MIKE IS A GIFTED VISUAL ARTIST, AND AN AMAZING SINGER/SONGWRITER WHOSE CREDITS INCLUDE SHARING A STAGE WITH LEGENDS SUCH AS KID CUDI, AKON, MACHINE GUN KELLY, AND SNOOP DOGG, AMONG OTHERS.

Each of the 16 projects represented here exists as a feature length screenplay. Others have been adapted to limited series or stage plays, and 8 of the 16 exist in books by Paul Root: 6 novellas in the collection Moving Pictures, the novel Saul's Sacred Quest, and the illustrated children's book S.O.S. Save Old Santa. We will continue to grow the content library in the years ahead. October First Media owns the complete rights to all of these original works.

Acquiring literary properties and collaborating with multi-faceted talents on projects that
cross generational, cultural, and thematic divisions.
Michael and Paul first professionally collaborated on the feature film King's Faith. Mike acted in the movie and contributed to the soundtrack while Paul co-wrote and co-produced the film that has gone on to be viewed around the world over 15 million times and counting.
The two combined their talents again in 2022’s feature film The Mystery of Her.The movie struck a significant chord on the international stage. Netflix Latin America released it in early July 2022, and it quickly was embraced by many demographics – propelling it to #9 of Netflix's most streamed movies in the world.
But their relationship extends well beyond the professional sphere. Paul Root has been friends with Mike's parents for many years. Before he turned five years of age, Mike lost his father to cancer. Paul watched Mike grow into a talented performer and was thrilled by the chance to collaborate with him when the opportunity presented itself.
October First Media merges the pair’s two companies, Root Word Productions and Local Legends Entertainment. The name of their new company stems from the fact that the date holds significant and sacred meaning for each of the founding partners. It is Paul’s mother’s birthday and the date that Mike’s father left this world for the next.
